Across Mexico, the US and Canada, inside a lace of land extending 155 miles wide yet in excess of 4,000 miles in length, a huge number of individuals extended their necks, shifted their heads to the sky and watched in wonder as the day went to night.



What many saw on Monday was a peculiarity like no other: the Moon moving between the Earth and the Sun, dousing its light in a complete sun powered obscure.


The way of entirety traversed the mainland, starting over the warm sands of a Mexican ocean side town and obscuring the skies over the crashing waters of Niagara Falls prior to finishing its excursion on the shores of Canada's Newfoundland.


It left a feeling of wonderment afterward, a sign of our planet's position in the universe.


The shroud was first seen around Mazatlán, Mexico, on the country's western shores at 11:07 nearby time (18:07 GMT).


From the outset, the Moon's external edge appeared to simply be contacting the Sun. Then, at that point, it gobbled up increasingly more until cheers ejected as all at last went dim - save for the gleaming shine of the "crown" impact of the Sun around the Moon's blueprint.


1,000 miles away in Dallas, Texas, 11-year-old Ady Walton-Ruler was pausing, long stretches of repressed fervor prepared to explode.

Everything felt sluggish, she said, as she depicted the Texas early evening time turning dim. "It appeared as though the Moon was gnawing the Sun, however without the teeth marks."


Mists slid in and out, sporadically obstructing the overshadowing from view until the Sun had evaporated, nothing left except for little flares of light around the Moon.


"I didn't figure it would be that way," Ady said. "It was truly dim out. I figured it would resemble evening dull, however pitching black was very close."

Staggering pictures as murkiness slips

The temperature decreased unexpectedly and, similarly as she had been instructed, creatures fell quiet.


"As it began to get lighter the crickets were there, and the birds began singing. It was truly insane," she said. "I'm miserable it's finished."


From that point, the overshadowing continued on, cutting its way north-east through the US.


For some's purposes, the sun based peculiarity was set apart by an individual achievement, with many Americans going along with one of a few mass wedding occasions specked across the way of entirety.
